Singapore Sling

The Singapore Sling was created by Ngiam Tong Boon, a bartender at the Raffles Hotel in Singapore, in 1915. It was originally designed to appeal to British colonial visitors.

Method

  • METHOD
    1. Shake all ingredients except for the soda and the bitter over ice.
    2. Strain into an iced Highball glass.
    3. Top with a splash of soda and one dash of Cocktail Bitters.
    4. Garnish with a Maraschino Cherry and an Orange Wedge.

The original recipe for the cocktail was lost for many years, and it wasn't until the 1970s that it was rediscovered by Ngiam's nephew.
