The Gimlet is a cocktail made with gin and lime juice. It is one of the oldest mixed drinks that dates back to the 19th century.

Method

  • Preparation
    1. Stir all ingredients in an ice-filled mixing glass.
    2. Strain into a chilled Coupe glass.
    3. Garnish with a Lime Twist.

History of the drink

The drink was created by British Royal Navy surgeon Sir Thomas Gimlette in the 19th century. It was originally made with gin and lime juice, and was used as a way to prevent scurvy among sailors. The recipe eventually made its way to shore, where it became a popular cocktail, where barteners tweaked the recipe making it much more palatable
