This year, WORLD CLASS will once again take you into the world of Fine Drinking and challenges you to elevate your drink creations to a higher level. The Entry Challenges for this year's WORLD CLASS Competition 2024 are
DON JULIO - 2030 PALOMA & THE SINGLETON - AT THE DISCO
From February 27th, 2024, 12:00 am until March 19th, 2024, 11:59pm, you have the opportunity to showcase your skills and acquired knowledge through the online application, aiming to qualify for the Semi Final of the WORLD CLASS Competition 2024. Convince us of your creativity and create an unforgettable drink that cleverly incorporates ONE of the two Entry Challenges. We are excited!

DON JULIO - 2030 PALOMA
The cocktail culture is constantly evolving, and our WORLD CLASS bartenders have been setting the future trends for over a decade. This also goes for Don Julio whose tradition is always to be one step ahead of time.
It's your opportunity to look forward and showcase the future of classic Tequila cocktails.
CHALLENGE BRIEF
It's the year 2030, and we want you to create a forward-thinking Paloma cocktail representing your city. We want to see why this modern classic is relevant to your city, and why you think it's the future of the classic Paloma.
CHALLENGE RULES
Create a Don Julio - 2030 Paloma
- You must use at least 30 ml of Don Julio in your 2030 Paloma.
- You are free to use any expression of Don Julio.
- For your Paloma creation, it is allowed to use all citrus fruits. You are not limited to grapefruit. The processing of the citrus fruit is up to you.
- The choice of ice, serving style and glassware is entirely up to you.
- It's up to you how many ingredients you include in your drink. However, a maximum of two home-made ingredients may be used and please make sure that they are easy for everyone to replicate.
- The garnish and decoration are at your discretion and do not count as homemade ingredients. They should be integrated into the story of your drink and contribute to the overall aesthetics.
In your story on your Don Julio – 2030 Paloma creation, please address the following questions (max. 250 words):
- Why do you believe this cocktail is the future Paloma in your city?
- How have you incorporated your local twist?
- What techniques have you used?
SCORING CRITERIA
TASTE & APPEARANCE – 30 points
- Does the recipe and description sound inspiring?
- Is the drink balanced and does the Don Julio shine?
- Would you order the drink from a menu?
- How visually appealing is the drink? Does the garnish and glassware complement the serve?
STORYTELLING – 30 points
- Is clearly showcased why this drink is the future Don Julio Paloma?
LOCAL TWIST – 20 points
- Is a localized flavor or technique incorporated into the drink and did work in it?
INNOVATION – 20 points
- How innovative is the drink? Is it the future?
TOTAL – 100 points
THE SINGLETON - AT THE DISCO
This is not your usual single malt whisky challenge!
The Singleton of Dufftown is an inviting whisky that thrives on bringing people together, telling stories and discovering flavours in unexpected ways. Disco drinks have been doing just that for decades and are now celebrating their comeback. The Singleton demands a place at the party!
CHALLENGE BRIEFING
Take the judges on a multi-sensory journey by creating an innovative Singleton "Disco" cocktail that showcases flavour in an unexpected but fun way with The Singleton of Dufftown. Show us what a luxurious disco could look like.
CHALLENGE RULES
Create a The Singleton - At The Disco
- You must use at least 30ml of The Singleton of Dufftown for your drink.
- It is up to you which The Singleton of Dufftown variant you would like to use.
- The choice of ice, serving style and glassware is entirely up to you.
- Don't forget the disco! And find a suitable song to accompany your cocktail!
- It's up to you how many ingredients you include in your drink. However, a maximum of two home-made ingredients may be used and please make sure that they are easy for everyone to replicate.
- The garnish and decoration are at your discretion and do not count as homemade ingredients. They should be integrated into the story of your drink and contribute to the overall aesthetics.
In your story about your creation with The Singleton of Dufftown, you should answer the following questions (max. 250 words):
- How has The Singleton elevated the disco?
- Why does your chosen song support your drink?
- How have you captured flavour in an unexpected way?
SCORING CRITERIA
TASTE – 40 points
- Does the recipe and description sound inspiring?
- Would you order the drink from a menu?
AESTHETICS & EXPERIENCE – 30 points
- How visually appealing is the drink? Does the garnish and glassware complement the serve?
- Did the song elevate the cocktail?
STORYTELLING – 20 points
- Did the creation take you on a journey with a clear and entertaining narrative?
CHALLENGE BONUS – 10 points
- Has the serve been elevated to a luxury standard?
TOTAL – 100 points
APPLICATION
The registration period starts on February 27th, 2024, 00:00 am and ends on March 22th, 2024, 11:59 pm.
You must submit the following information:
- Personal details
- Cocktail name, recipe & method
- supporting paragraph (max. 250 words explaining the story or inspiration behind your cocktail)
- 1x cocktail image with the bottle of the selected brand
- 1x cocktail image with the bottle of the selected brand and Yourself
- Extra for The Singleton of Dufftown Challenge: a link to your chosen song!

In the first phase of the competition, your drink will be judged on the basis of your submission. Details and comprehensibility of the story, recipe and production method are important in order for the drink to be considered and evaluated accordingly.
